STEM is FEM is a charitable educational project founded in 2019.
Project goal
To encourage girls and women to pursue STEM professions (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and establish educational pathways for them. The project seeks to dismantle stereotypes regarding the "unfeminine" nature of specific fields, acquaint girls and women with other female scientists, and cultivate a professional community where every participant feels supported and empowered.
How the project works
STEM is FEM organizes both online and offline educational events for girls and women aged 15 to 22. Since its inception, the initiative has successfully brought together over 5,000 girls and women. The modules and events feature distinguished women, including Ukrainian scientists, government officials, representatives from international organizations, and high-level executives from companies like Google, BMW Ukraine, Global Logic, among others.
The project collaborates with partners such as UNICEF, the UN Office in Ukraine, the US Embassy in Ukraine, and UN Women in Ukraine.
Amidst the full-scale war, the STEM is FEM community initiated several projects in response to the challenges of the conflict. These initiatives include the Urban Studies course, aimed at reconstructing Ukrainian cities devastated by the war, and an informational campaign highlighting the aftermath of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion [#drowningvoicesfromUkraine].
